On June 23, 2023, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and Chairman of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Darkhan Ahmed-Zaki visited the M.A. Aitkhozhin Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry during a working trip to Almaty.
The meeting of the management of the MSHE and the Committee of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the staff of the Institute began with a discussion of the prospects and plans for the development of science in general. Issues of financing and supporting scientific projects, the creation of modern laboratories and the renewal of scientific infrastructure were raised. Director General of IMBB, Professor Sharipov K.O. presented a report on the achievements, partners and scientific staff of the Institute, and also presented a strategic plan for the development of IMBB for the next 5 years.
The minister got acquainted with the current research carried out at the Institute, discussed the development of scientific and educational programs related to molecular biology and biochemistry. In his speech, the Minister emphasized the importance of scientific discoveries and innovations, which can lead to significant progress in medicine, agriculture and other areas, as well as improve the quality of education and the scientific potential of the country.
Sayasat Nurbek noted that the commercialization of scientific developments and technologies is of strategic importance for the development of the national economy and society as a whole, he also stressed that it is important to create conditions and infrastructure that contribute to the translation of scientific research into practical applications and commercially successful products.
In addition, Sayasat Nurbek and Darkhan Ahmed-Zaki toured all of the Institute’s laboratories, interviewed research fellows, and asked them questions about unresolved issues in science, research goals, applied methods, and the potential benefits of their work.
At the end of their visit, the heads of the ministry expressed their gratitude and support to the researchers of the M.A. Aitkhozhin Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and emphasized the importance of their work for the scientific progress and development of Kazakhstan.
