Today is the birthday of the outstanding scientist Murat Abenovich Aitkhozhin

            Today, June 29, is the birthday of the outstanding scientist, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, Lenin Prize Laureate, public figure, who made an invaluable contribution to the development of biological science and the whole science of Kazakhstan – Murat Abenovich Aitkhozhin, founder of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry.

M.A. Aitkhozhin created a new for the Republic scientific school of molecular biology, which became widely known for its achievements in the country and abroad. The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry founded by him, which now bears his name, was a world-renowned center for plant molecular biology. On the initiative of Murat Abenovich, the first work on plant biotechnology was also started, later the Kazakh Agricultural Biotechnology Center was created, which coordinated work on the creation of new forms and varieties of cultivated plants using genetic and cell engineering methods.

The indomitable desire for scientific truth and the innate talent of a natural scientist, a major organizer and leader of science in Kazakhstan were clearly manifested during the period of M.A. Aitkhozhin’s work as President of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. His fruitful scientific, educational and social activities, his super ability for large-scale thinking, deep understanding of the essence of the tasks set, the ability to isolate the main thing and set priorities are an example for many to this day.
