Applied solutions in biotechnology: scientific research results of the plant bioengineering laboratory – at the exhibition for the Day of Science Workers!

The Plant Bioengineering Laboratory of M.A. Aitkhozhin Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry took part in the exhibition, which was held as part of the celebrations for the Day of Science Workers of the Republic of Kazakhstan on April 11, 2025 in Almaty.

The results of the project on the development of innovative biotechnology for microclonal propagation of improved planting material of popular fruit and berry crops – strawberries, blackberries and bilberries – were presented. The project is being implemented within the framework of the Scientific and Technical Program for 2023-2025 “Development of biotechnological approaches to control phytopathogens in order to increase the productivity of agricultural crops.”

Visitors could see unique samples of in vitro plants of the Clery, Asia, Albion, Vivara (strawberry), Natchez, Black Magic, Osage, Heaven Can Wait (blackberry), Martin, Sleyt, Northline (bilberry) varieties, grown according to the author’s cultivation and adaptation protocols.

These scientific research results are already opening up new opportunities for domestic nurseries and farms, providing a high-quality start for the production of elite seedlings.
