On January 30, 2023, the first meeting of the Academic Council of М.A. Aitkhozhin Institute of molecular biology and biotechnology took place this year.

The meeting discussed and approved the new composition of the IMBB Academic Council, as well as the work plan of the Academic Council for 2023.

Deputy General Director of IMBB Ismagulova G.A. presented information on the development of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Science and Technology Policy”, initiated with the aim of creating mechanisms to increase the efficiency of scientific research, integrate science with production, and increase the contribution of science to the country’s economy. In fact, this law will combine two existing laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan – “On Science” and “On the Commercialization of the Results of Scientific and (or) Scientific and Technical Activities.” Currently, a working group has been created, and work is underway to collect and analyze proposals.

General Director of the IMBB Sharipov K.O. added that the new law will increase the requirements for the effectiveness of scientific research and their focus on solving specific socio-economic problems and asked to pay special attention to this point when forming scientific and technical progress and grant projects.
