The meeting of the Academic Council of M. Aitkhozhin Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry

A regular meeting of the Academic Council was held at M. Aitkhozhin Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry on November 30, 2023.

At the meeting of the Academic Council, letters of gratitude “Algys Khaty” for the contribution to the development of domestic science were presented to the head of the laboratory of molecular immunology and immunobiotechnology Abdolla Nurshat and the researcher of the laboratory of structural and functional genomics Belkozhaev Ayaz by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek.

Members of the Academic Council heard two reports on the implementation of research programs of PhD doctoral students Nadirova Leila and Khaseyn Altyn. The speakers were asked questions and given recommendations for further scientific research.

Also, the results of the International Conference of Young Scientists dedicated to the 40th anniversary of M. Aitkhozhin Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, which was held on November 17, 2023, were summed up at the meeting of the Scientific Council.

The conference was held in a hybrid format – offline and online and brought together about 100 scientists from Kazakhstan, England, France, the USA, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Belarus. Much attention of the conference participants was attracted by the reports of world-famous scientists: Professor of the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy of Oregon Health & Science University Shukhrat Mitalipov on the topic: “Direct reprogramming of skin cells into eggs and sperm”, as well as an evolutionary scientist, specialist in the field of developmental biology, Head of the scientific group at Imperial College London, employee of the National Museum of Natural History – Arkhat Abzhanov on the topic: “In your face: exploring morphology, evolution and development of the skull.”

Members of the Scientific Council noted the importance of holding such events and unanimously agreed that the conference contributed to the strengthening of international relations, the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedicine and genetics.

At the end, all active participants and members of the conference organizing committee were presented with letters of gratitude by the General Director of the Institute, K. Sharipov.
